Veðursjúka 2

Tann miðaldrandi tíðindamaðurin, sum segði frá í „Veðursjúka“, roynir framvegis at skilja til­veruna og heimin.

Hann leitar aftur í barndómin, tá tilveran var virkið útilív í ódn sum í logn, og ongin fitisótt gjørdi um seg millum børn og ung.

Hann møtir upp á tingi, har ungar tingkvinnur og eldri tingmenn keglast um veðurlagsátøk, og eygleiðir bøndur mótmæla, at ferðafólk kleyra landið niður.

Brádliga brestur ódn á, og undantaksstøða valdar í landinum. Eftir ódnina liggur so mangt í sori, hús leka í eyri og seyri, og soppur plágar mangan heila.

Hann ger av at fara suðureftir at skriva fyrsta yrkingasavnið, men har er hann um at kódna av hita og uppøstum tíðindum um skógar­eldar. ... The middle-aged journalist who narrates Veðursjúka (Weather Sickness) is still trying to understand life and the world around him.

He reflects on his childhood, a time when life was spent actively outdoors, regardless of whether the weather was calm or stormy, and when childhood obesity was not a widespread concern in the islands.

He attends meetings at the Faroese Parliament, witnessing young female MPs arguing with older male MPs about climate policies, and he observes farmers protesting tourists damaging the nature of the islands.

Suddenly, a hurricane rages and a state of emergency is declared in the country. After the hurricane has passed, things lie in ruin — houses leak like sieves and fungus becomes a growing concern for many.

He decides to travel south to write his first collection of poetry, but once there, he finds himself overwhelmed by the heat and sensationalist news coverage of forest fires.
