The novel spans over three generations spread over various geographies only to converge at a summit of family reunification .The novel vividly captures the India - Pakistan War of 1971 which forms the background of the novel and emergence of Bangladesh as new nation of hope and aspiration. The novel is based on extensive real time research and though fictionalized hovers largely around real time happenings .
