In this episode, Bricky, DK, and Kirioth dive into the Severan Dominate, a rare example of a faction actually managing to secede from the Imperium of Man. On paper, seceding is as easy as just quitting, but the real difficulty is keeping the secession going. Led by the "pious" Duke Severus XIII, this splinter faction has held itself together in a dangerous area of space. Believing the Periphery sub-sector was his by right, the Duke orchestrated fake supply shortages to force his citizens into desperate rebellion. To maintain his grip, the Duke formed dark pacts with a desperate Drukhari kabal known as the Children of Thorns. Throw in an unexpected Ork invasion from Waaagh! Grimtoof, and you have the recipe for the only definitively successful secessionist group in 40K history.
