Frederick Cook claimed to be the first man to climb to the peak of Mt. McKinley in 1906, in 1909 he claimed to have made it to the North Pole in the spring of 1908. Arctic explorer Robert Peary launched a campaign against Cook and soon no one believed he had done it. In the last several decades people retracing their steps have begun wonder if he really did it.
