#1 I grew up in China, and was taught to be a model worker and a building block for the growth of the nation. But being a model worker wasn’t my dream. I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I dreamed of becoming the next Bill Gates and inventing an amazing technology product that would take the world by storm.

#2 I was sixteen when I was presented with the opportunity to become a high school exchange student in the United States and go to an American college afterward. I jumped on it. The transition was difficult, and I was sad to leave my family. But I was determined to become an entrepreneur in America.

#3 I had many ideas that I thought could become successful products, but I never pursued them. I was afraid of being rejected, so I would just add them to the pile and then close the drawer.

#4 I had sold out my dream of becoming an entrepreneur, and had become a marketing manager at a Fortune 500 company. I had dreamed of being able to pursue my dreams without having to worry about money, but instead I was about to become a father.
