#1 Growing up, I was very on-brand for me. I screamed in the faces of men who catcalled me, lost friends, and fell out with my parents on multiple occasions. But I had to do this in order to grow.

#2 You will see the misogyny, racism, and double standards in everything. You will realize how your own behavior changes when you interact with men, and how there is an innate urge for you to be polite, desirable, and palatable.

#3 As you grow and develop, you will inevitably outgrow the people in your life and embark on your own path. You must be willing to outgrow your peers, friends, and even family, if you are going to live a fulfilled life on your own terms.

#4 We all have a woven identity that is made up of the many threads that make us who we are. Someone who challenges our woven identity and unravels our threads isn’t supposed to be comfortable, but the more open-minded and aware you are of the fact that we all live different realities, the easier it becomes to grow and empathize with others.
