She cried.

Bad mistake on a snowy road!

In the pale light of the headlights of her Ford, through the windshield studded with frosted stars painfully swept away by the tired windshield wipers, the dark silhouette of the little girl was drawing dangerously closer.

The tires squealed on the white carpet as the vehicle rushed, without any possible defense, towards the small, paralyzed being on the side of the road.

Rebecca screamed while gripping her steering wheel with both fists, clenched until her knuckles turned white.

The collision now seemed inevitable. The young woman already anticipated with anguish the dull noise that the child would make when the bumper hit her, reducing her body to red mush on the immaculate snow.

Moved by an imbecile reflex, Rebecca closed her eyes so as not to see the unstoppable. Then she jerked the wheel, counter-steering the rotational movement initiated by the vehicle.

Second beginner's mistake in this weather. The Ford spun towards the little girl who didn't move, like a petrified hare in the light beams.

Perhaps God was watching over the little girl that evening?
