Park Bench Murders ////// 856

On June 4, 2019, a little after 5 P.M., longtime friends Carnell “Nell” Sledge and Katherine “Kate” Brown arrived at the Rocky River Reservation which is a section of the Cleveland MetroParks. Both met at a pull-off gravel parking lot near the Lorain Road Bridge. Carnell and Katherine were shot and killed near a park bench shortly after arriving. Carnell was only 40 years old and Katherine was just 33 years old. These homicides are still unsolved. We covered this case before (see below) and will continue to follow up as necessary until an arrest(s) is made. Anyone with information regarding these murders is asked to call the FBI’s Cleveland field office at 216-622-6842. Tips can also be submitted at tips.fbi.gov If you wish to remain anonymous please contact Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County at 3216-252-7463.

18 year old Nieko Lisi went missing sometime around October 1st, 2011. His disappearance occurred sometime during a time period filled with suspicious circumstances. Nieko is technically missing from Addison, New York. He may have gone to Michigan and/or Ohio. Nieko is said to have been seen in and interacted with persons who knew him in the Franklin/ Nashville Tennessee area. His phone also shows activity in all four of the previously mentioned states all within a short timeframe of about 48 hours. Anyone with any information about Nieko or his disappearance should call 1-800-TBI-FIND, or submit a tip online by emailing TipsToTBI@tn.gov. The Lisi family is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to Nieko's whereabouts. Franklin police and Crime Stoppers are offering an additional reward of up to $1,000 for information in this case.

In which, Singular discusses some of the lesser known characters of the case, his findings, and magnifies the problems with the murder investigation. An updated Kindle version was released in 2016 with new information and some intriguing leads.

Parkersburg Police and her family have been desperately seeking answers and help trying to locate Gretchen. Now, after the passage of time they all fear the very worst. Police worked diligently and swiftly with their investigation. Evidence brought them to question the actions, movements, and motivations of one man in particular. Police believe that late that night Gretchen’s path crossed with his and law enforcement wants to know what he knows. Parkersburg Police is seeking help from the general public as well.  The Gilgo Beach Killer, The Long Island Serial Killer, L.I.S.K., and the list of names, and monikers goes on and on. These are all names given to an unidentified serial killer that is responsible for four murders, maybe eleven unsolved homicides, and likely the number could be higher. These names refer to a series of murders that took place from 1996 to 2011 in which the remains of eleven people were found on the South Shore of Long Island, New York. From the public’s perspective, this all started when Shannon Gilbert went missing in the early morning hours of May 1, 2010. Her disappearance triggered the finding of four sets of remains off of Ocean Parkway at Gilgo Beach. These victims became known as the Gilgo Four. By May of 2011 police had discovered six more sets of remains in the area. But the truth is that this nightmare started long before Shannon disappeared. 

 

In 2023, an architect then 59-year old, Rex Heuermann was arrested and initially charged with three of the murders. Just this month he was charged with a seventh homicide. This week in the Garage, we talk about what the police found in Rex Heuermann’s home, specifically a planning document. This is a kill document, one that many are calling Rex Heuermann’s Blue Print for Murder.

Sixteen year old Garrett Burton was hanging out with some friends on the Friday before Labor Day 2008. After school activities found Garrett at a local house party full of teenagers and young adults. But when four friends stepped out into the early morning hours looking for some kicks, things got bad real quick. Garrett was shot and killed. His murder is still unsolved. This week we step into the Garage and a little into our teen years to examine this cold case.
