True Crime All The Time Unsolved

In September 2009, 24-year-old Mitrice Richardson was arrested at a Malibu restaurant after she couldn’t pay an $89 bill and was acting strangely. Despite her unusual behavior and concerns expressed by her family, Mitrice was released from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station around 12:15 a.m. without her car, phone, money, or transportation. She was 40 miles from home in an unfamiliar area. Her mother reported her missing the following morning, but authorities delayed issuing a BOLO and waited two days to conduct their first search.

A witness later reported seeing a woman matching Mitrice’s description near Monte Nido, where investigators found sneaker tracks. Her disappearance generated controversy over the sheriff’s handling of her arrest and release, while authorities later concluded she may have suffered a severe mental health crisis after going days without sleep. Nearly a year later, Mitrice’s body was discovered in Malibu Canyon, several miles from where she was last seen. Her cause of death was classified as undetermined, leaving her family convinced that unanswered questions remain about what happened to her.

Mitrice Richardson Part 1

In 1967, 54-year-old Alfred Swinscoe disappeared after leaving the Miners Arms pub in Pinxton, England. For 56 years, his family had no idea what happened to him until human remains were discovered in a nearby farmer’s field in 2023 and DNA confirmed they were Alfred. Investigators determined he had been murdered, suffering stab wounds, blunt-force trauma, and a broken hand believed to have occurred while fighting his attackers. 

Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the disappearance and discovery of Alfred Swinscoe. In 2024, police identified two deceased suspects, including a family friend with a history of violence who may have followed Alfred from the pub. A coroner ruled Alfred was unlawfully killed, but authorities have never established exactly who killed him or why. With both suspects dead and many original records and witnesses gone, the mystery of Alfred Swinscoe’s murder remains unsolved.

The gist: In 2010, in a quiet suburb of San Diego, a family of four seemingly vanished into thin air. When investigators searched their home, they found the family’s two beloved dogs unattended outside, rotting food left around the house and clothes strewn across the floor. The nation was left to wonder: Did the McStays leave of their own accord, or did something more sinister happen?

Introducing: What Happened to the McStays?

On February 3, 1976, Michigan attorney Peter Kensler left his office in Manchester and headed home to his rural property in Sharon Township. The 36-year-old lawyer was shot twice with a 20-gauge shotgun outside his home, including a fatal point-blank shot to the face. His briefcase was missing, and investigators quickly discovered several possible motives, including Kensler’s bitter split from prominent attorney James Hendley and a controversial takeover of Union Savings Bank. Kensler had also been living a private second life in Detroit.

Join Mike and Gibby as they talk about the murder of Peter Kensler. The investigation was plagued by problems from the beginning, with the crime scene compromised and investigators unable to gather enough evidence to charge anyone. A longtime friend became a prime suspect, and detectives later theorized that he may have brought another man to Kensler’s home to carry out the shooting. In 1982, an anonymous caller directed police to a river where they recovered a 20-gauge shotgun, but ballistic testing could neither confirm nor eliminate it as the murder weapon. Decades later, investigators still believe the killing may have been connected to Kensler’s personal life. In 2026, authorities confirmed that the case remains under active investigation after receiving “very viable” new information, including several names not publicly released. Fifty years after Peter Kensler’s murder, his family is still waiting for answers.

Peter Kensler

8-year-old Zachary Bernhardt went missing nearly 26 years ago on September 11th, 2000, from the apartment where he was living with his mother. Zachary has never been found, and his case is the longest-running Amber Alert in Florida. 

Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the disappearance of Zachary Bernhardt. Zachary's mother, Leah Hackett, has received some bad press over the years, and the police have even called her uncooperative at times. Her story about the night Zachary vanished is odd, but as far as we know, there is no evidence against her. Kevin G. Jalbert was arrested for crimes not directly related to Zachary's disappearance, but he once told someone he was responsible.

Zachary Bernhardt

Jodie Lynn Campbell Bordeaux was 28 years old and seven months pregnant when she was murdered at her home in Powhattan, Kansas, on November 21, 1997. Jodie and her husband, Shawn, worked at the Golden Eagle Casino, where Jodie had become a supervisor and was responsible for hiring and firing employees. After disciplining and eventually firing an employee, Jodie lost her job after a grievance was filed against her. She believed the firing was retaliation. Around the same time, Jodie and Shawn began receiving anonymous late-night phone calls, and Jodie told her family she believed someone was watching their home.

Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the murder of Jodie Bordeaux. Shortly after midnight, Jodie and Shawn were watching television when a barrage of gunfire tore through their home. Shawn initially thought a lightbulb had exploded, but quickly realized someone was shooting into the house. Investigators determined the shooting was likely targeted and did not believe Shawn was involved. Authorities eventually focused on people connected to Jodie's employment at the casino, but no one was ever arrested.

Jodie Bordeaux

Patricia "Patti" Adkins disappeared after leaving work at the Honda plant in Marysville, Ohio, in the early morning hours of June 29, 2001. She believed she was leaving for a week-long vacation to Canada with a married coworker with whom she had been having an affair. Patti never returned, never contacted her family, and has never been seen again. 

Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the disappearance of Patti Adkins. Although her body has not been found and no arrests have been made, investigators have long suspected foul play and continue to identify her married coworker as the primary suspect.

Patti Adkins

In this episode, Mike and Gibby examine the tragic and still-unsolved murder of Paula Sladewski, a 26-year-old model whose burned body was discovered in a dumpster in North Miami, Florida, on January 3, 2010. After an argument with her boyfriend at the famous Club Space nightclub, Paula vanished. Sixteen years later, investigators are still searching for the unidentified man seen with her shortly before her death.

Paula Sladewski

On December 2, 2005, 10-year-old Adre'anna Jackson left her home in Tillicum, Washington, expecting to walk the short distance to school. Due to a snowstorm, school had been canceled, but her family never received the notification. When she failed to return home, a massive search began. 

Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the disappearance of Adre'anna Jackson. Four months after Adre'anna disappeared, her skeletal remains were found in a vacant lot just one mile from her home. Because of the condition of her remains, the medical examiner could not determine her cause of death, but investigators have always treated the case as a homicide. More than 20 years later, the case remains unsolved.

Adre'anna Jackson

In 1980, 17-day-old Kevin Verville Jr. was abducted after a woman posing as a representative of a family assistance program convinced his young military parents to trust her. Kevin Sr. and Angelina Verville thought they would be receiving aid, which was sorely needed. Instead, this woman drove Angelina and Kevin Jr. to a house and asked Angelina to knock on the door. When Angelina got out of the car, the woman sped away with her baby.

Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the abduction of Kevin Verville Jr. More than four decades later, investigators believe Kevin may still be alive and unaware that he was kidnapped as a newborn. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is working hard to help solve this case. They have an age-progressed photo of Kevin on their website, and the authorities just need that one tip to break this wide open.

Kevin Verville Jr.

40-year-old Thomas Edwin Bartlett died on January 1st, 1886. He had been sick for about a month before he died, but was expected to recover. A postmortem exam found a deadly amount of chloroform in Edwin’s stomach. 

Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss what has become known as the Pimlico poisoning. Edwin's wife Adelaide was suspected of poisoning him with the help of a minister named George Dyson. The two had been having an intimate relationship, some say with the blessing and sometimes with Edwin watching. Was Edwin murdered and, if so, who did it?
