True Crime All The Time Unsolved

In February 2019, Jón Jónsson traveled from his home in Iceland to Dublin, Ireland, to participate in a poker tournament. A day and a half into his trip, Jón walked out of his hotel and was never seen again. There is no shortage of theories about what happened to Jón, and the known facts are extremely mysterious.

Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the disappearance of Jón Jónsson. The trip started on the wrong foot when his fiancée couldn't find her passport, and Jón flew to Ireland without her. When she showed up, she saw Jón for just a short time before he walked out of the hotel and didn't return. Was Jón's disappearance connected to the poker club or money that he owed someone? There has even been talk of a hitman who targeted the wrong person.

The Disappearance of Jón Jónsson

On January 1st, 1963, the bodies of Dr. Gilbert Bogle and Margaret Chandler were found on the banks of the Lane Cove River in Sydney, Australia. The “Bogle-Chandler Mystery” became infamous due to the circumstances in which the bodies were found and because the cause of death could not be established. 

Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the Bogle-Chandler mystery. Affairs, open marriages, an unidentified third person, and the way the two deceased individuals were found made this a very salacious case. The mystery lies in the fact that the medical examiner couldn't say for sure how the couple died, although he did rule their deaths unnatural. All of this had led to a multitude of theories over the years, with one seemingly gaining more traction than the rest.

The Bogle-Chandler Mystery

14-year-old Miriam García Iborra, 15-year-old Antonia “Toñi” Gómez Rodríguez, and 14-year-old Desirée Hernández Folch went missing while hitchhiking to a nightclub in November 1992. In January 1993, their bodies were found in a remote area. The Alcásser Murders

In the early afternoon of August 26th, 1995, 23-year-old Heather Teague went sunbathing on Newburgh Beach in Henderson County, Kentucky. This is a thin strip of beach on the shore of the Ohio River. Twenty-nine years later, Heather has still not been found.

Heather Teague

Marcus Rutledge was a young father who went missing in June 1998, shortly before he was supposed to graduate from college. Foul play was suspected from the beginning, and Marcus’s family thought he might have gotten involved with dangerous people in the months leading up to his death, although those individuals remain unidentified.

Marcus Rutledge

The body of Mary Rogers, known by many New Yorkers as the “beautiful cigar girl,” was found in the Hudson River in July 1841. There was evidence she had been beaten before she died, but over a century later, her death remains unsolved.

Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the death of Mary Rogers. Both theories and suspects abound in this case. Some newspapers at the time even named people as Mary's killer. There are supposed deathbed confessions, and the theories range from wild to semi-plausible. Even Edgar Allen Poe is rumored to have been involved, and he did write a story based on Mary's death.

Mary Rogers

Kate Brown and Carnell Sledge were close friends who were murdered in broad daylight while sitting together on a park bench. Six years later, the killer has not been caught.

William Smolinski Jr

Jennifer Wix and her daughter Adrianna have been missing since March 2004. Twenty-one years later, they still have not been found. Authorities consider Jennifer’s former boyfriend a person of interest. He claimed to have seen her get into a white car with an unknown driver, but investigators have been unable to verify his story.

Jennifer and Adrianna Wix

In March 1998, Father Alfred Kunz was murdered inside St. Michael Catholic Church in Dane, Wisconsin. Many believe he was murdered because he had knowledge of sexual misconduct within the church, while others say he was murdered because of allegedly inappropriate relationships with female parishioners.

But, one by one, the police have ruled people out using DNA found at the crime scene. Father Alfred Kunz

On February 5th, 1985, 68-year-old Helen Wilson was murdered inside her apartment. The police had some forensic evidence but struggled to figure out who had committed the murder. They eventually honed in on people who they believed fit the FBI profile of the killer or killers. In the end, five people falsely confessed to the murder, and six people were found guilty related to the crime.

Joseph White, Thomas Winslow, Ada JoAnn Taylor, Debra Shelden, James Dean, and Kathy Gonzalez became known as The Beatrice 6. All but White eventually confessed to playing some role in the murder of Helen Wilson. They were eventually exonerated, but just how did the police get five people to admit to being involved when they apparently played no role at all?
