Legally Brunette: End of the Month Recap - Lori Hacking, Christa Pike & Ian Diaz

The state of Florida is executing its 14th death row inmate of the year at 6pm ET. 74-year-old Harold Gene Lucas was 24 when he shot his teenaged ex-girlfriend in the head with a rifle and injured her two friends who were there to protect her. 16-year-old Jill Piper had Lucas arrested for trespassing and threatening to kill her the week before he went back to her home, to make good on his threat. Lucas was sentenced to death five times over the past five decades and has now waived his final appeal saying, “The sooner it’s over, the better I’ll enjoy it. I am tired.”

Florida To Execute 74-Year-Old Inmate On Death Row For 50 Years!

There will be a fifth day of deliberations in the Lindsay Clancy triple murder trial, after the jury asked to go home early once again today. This, after the judge sent the deadlocked jurors back to deliberate, late this morning. In the state of Massachusetts, the judge can only send the jury back twice without their consent, but may ultimately issue what’s called the “Tuey Rodriguez” charge, encouraging jurors to reevaluate their decision and consider where the other jurors are, while staying true to their personal convictions.

The jury in the Lindsay Clancy trial is back at it, beginning their 4th day of deliberations. As of this morning, the jury has already deliberated for 17 hours, which makes this verdict watch one of the longest in recent high profile murder trials. We go over what the judge’s options are if the jury says they’re deadlocked. While the state of Massachusetts does not allow an Allen charge, they do have another type of charge, called the Tuey-Rodriguez instruction. It’s certainly controversial and considered a last ditch effort to encourage jurors into a compromise.

One week shy of the 30th anniversary of the shooting death of Tupac Shakur, 63-year-old Duane Davis was found guilty of murdering the rap icon on the Vegas Strip. It only took the jury three hours to convict Davis, after two weeks of testimony and nearly 30 witnesses. The prosecution effectively used Davis’ own words, both written and spoken to convince the jury of 12 that he was the mastermind behind the killing. We have reaction from the courtroom and hear what Davis told the judge after he learned his fate.
