Real-Time Crime

It’s is a historic day on Florida’s death row with a rare double execution. The state is executing two inmates in one day for the first time in more than 60 years. After a brief delay, Florida executed 68-year-old James Duckett at 1:19pm ET and just a few hours later is set to execute the oldest man in state history, 80-year-old Dominick Occhicone. The Supreme Court just denied both mens’ appeals for a stay of execution clearing the way for both lethal injections.

Rare Double Execution: Florida Executes First Of Two Inmates In One Day, Making History Tonight

The man who pleaded guilty last summer of the brutal campus killings of four Idaho college students, now claims he was coerced into pleading guilty for the crimes. Bryan Kohberger, who is currently serving four life sentences, filed a handwritten petition to the court on Monday asking for a trial, after he claims he was forced by his attorneys into making a false plea to avoid death row. It’s unclear if a court will consider Kohberger’s request, given in his plea deal, where he waived all rights to appeal “any and all issues” in the case.

Idaho Student Murderer Now Says He’s Innocent Of Quadruple Homicide, Wants Trial

Investigators are trying to piece together what happened in a Michigan home that led to 47-year-old Kris Karolkiewicz shooting and killing his six children, his wife and then himself after setting the family home on fire. We know Kris recently lost his job as a Vice President with the American Heart Association, but it’s still unclear if that played a role in the unthinkable tragedy. Investigators say they found his licensed firearm near his body, and the rest of the family members shot to death in their bedrooms. While police confirmed he did not leave behind a note, investigators have seized what they call “a lot of documentation” from the home.

The final and fifth day of the D4vd preliminary hearing brought even more surprising evidence to light, and gave more insight into David Anthony Burke’s defense. A judge ruled the prosecution brought forward enough evidence to bring the singer to trial, but several, shocking text messages from 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez to D4vd, paint a much different picture about their relationship.

Police found Gilson dead, shot in the head next to her 48-year-old estranged husband who had a self inflicted gunshot wound. The U.S. Navy Blue Angels stunned a Pensacola Beach crowd with a lower than expected pass that sent beach umbrellas and tents flying, but gave beachgoers a show they won’t soon forget. The extra low flyover initially triggered a safety review, but Pete Hegseth, Eric Trump and the White House all chimed in, calling any outrage, manufactured, saying the flyovers would continue “until morale improves.” Moments before this recording, the navy announced there were “no reprimands” and “no problem” with the maneuver.
