KEEP CANADA WEIRD - 232 - 2026/09/25 - Shedgate, pokemon, teenagers, and seniors

In August 2026, Edmonton father Scot MacDermid disappeared with his two children, George and Lesley, setting off a search that would stretch beyond Alberta and raise troubling questions about an already bitter family dispute.

But the disappearance did not come out of nowhere.

Years earlier, Scot and the children’s mother, Edilenia, had built a life between Canada and the Dominican Republic before their relationship eventually fractured amid allegations of domestic violence, protection orders, and an international custody battle.

In this episode, we trace the relationship, Edilenia’s allegations, Scot’s previous attempt to take the children to the Dominican Republic, and the current search for Scot MacDermid and his missing children.

KEEP CANADA WEIRD - 229 - 2026/09/04 - Mysterious Island, Ottawa's Trump Ave, Hilroy Scandal, Free Cake

In the small eastern Ontario town of Smiths Falls, a series of missing men began to fuel widespread rumours, fear, and suspicion about what was happening beneath the surface of the community.

For years, families waited for answers while police searched for evidence and residents traded theories about whether the cases were somehow connected.

Then, just one month after a large reward was offered for information, the investigation took a dramatic turn. There would be arrests, murder charges, and the discovery of human remains on a remote rural property outside town.

But that was only the beginning…

As investigators continued searching the land, more bodies would be found, and attention would turn to the disturbing history of the property itself, raising new questions about how far back this story really goes, and how many secrets may still be buried there.

KEEP CANADA WEIRD - 227 - 2026/08/21 - erroneous influencers, a hole in one, the Roblox Heist, a spicy license plate

Six-year-old Lilly Sullivan and her four-year-old brother Jack Sullivan disappeared from their rural home in Lansdowne Station, Nova Scotia, on May 2, 2025, after their parents reported waking up and finding the children missing.

Despite Nova Scotia’s largest ground search involving police, volunteers, dogs, drones, and helicopters, no trace of the children has been found.

In this episode we hear from the children’s mother, Malehya Brooks-Murray, for the first time in fifteen months. Malehya recently participated in a CBC Interview, and like every aspect of this case, it raises as many questions as it answers.
