MrBallen Podcast: Strange, Dark & Mysterious Stories

On Christmas Eve in 1992, an 18 year old woman named Danita Gullette stepped outside of her place of work into the freezing Dayton, Ohio night air and began walking toward her mother's house. After a few minutes, Danita decided to call her mother to ask her something that couldn't wait until she arrived. So Danita stopped at a payphone, slipped a few coins into the phone's coin slot, then dialed the number she knew by heart. At her mother's house the phone started to ring, but when Danita's sister picked up the receiver, the phone was silent. Around the same time, the Dayton police received a call about a disturbance at a payphone in town. This would be the start of one of the most incomprehensible crime sprees in American history.

In 2012, a man living in Omaha, Nebraska met a woman on a dating website and after dinner, he invited her into his apartment. As they started getting intimate, they heard a knock on the door. Annoyed, the man got up and went to look through the peep hole, and he couldn’t believe who he saw standing on the other side of the door. This story has one of the strangest endings I’ve ever covered. Let’s just say, the plot twist is HUGE.

Extreme Plot Twist

In May of 2009, someone in Guatemala uploaded an 18 minute long video to YouTube titled, “YouTube Murder." Within hours of it being published, the video had gone massively viral to the point where YouTube’s servers began to crash, and in Guatemala, angry crowds of people began forming up in the streets demanding justice. When the president of Guatemala reluctantly authorized an investigation into what the video actually meant, no one was ready for the insane truth it would reveal. Today's story includes graphic violence, so listener discretion is advised.
