#297: Sometimes you Just Need Food and a Nap; Elijah part 6

1 Kings 19:1-8 As you have followed along with our Elijah series you've probably noticed Elijah has been obeying God and doing the right things, but today he gets some scary news from Jezebel and now Elijah says he has had enough. God's response to Elijah's cry is beautiful. He doesn't downplay Elijah's feelings or scold him. Instead, he sends an angel to provide food and water. When we are hungry and tired, our emotions can run wild. Sometimes it's those simple provisions of food, water, and rest that seem simple but are exactly what we need for our strength. The kids will hear that Elijah was a real human with real feelings and fears; real needs like food and rest. When we feel like we've had enough, we can talk honestly to God just like Elijah did and God will be right there to listen and comfort us too.
