At Davos, Gopinath warned that environmental degradation, air pollution, and climate risks pose a serious macroeconomic challenge for India impacting productivity, public health, and long-term growth more than external trade barriers. As India positions itself as a global manufacturing and investment hub, the economic cost of pollution could undermine growth, raise healthcare spending, and reduce workforce efficiency.
