Today we’re discussing the deaths of some of the late and great actors that took part in the Harry Potter Series.

In 2022 we lost a couple of the Harry Potter greats, including Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) and Leslie Phillips (The Sorting Hat), and I thought that with the closing of the year we could honour the rest of the names- big and small- that we’ve lost over the decades- from Dumbledore all the way to the driver of the Knight Bus- Ernie Prang.

Every Harry Potter Actor Who Passed Away (24) - Harry Potter Explained

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we’re going to be discussing Hogwarts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, and trying to unravel one of his dirtiest darkest secrets.

As early as the Philosopher’s Stone (in the first chapter, no less), we hear Dumbledore mention a certain scar in a conversation with McGonagall. But it’s not the scar that you probably thought of, Harry’s scar of legend, it’s actually one of Dumbledore’s OWN scars. 

If the first place your mind went to was emotional scars then that would make perfect sense, as Dumbledore, who lived quite the tumultuous life, would be riddled with them. 

But in this instance we’re talking about a real bonafide scar.

This Question about Dumbledore Has NEVER Been Answered - Harry Potter Theory

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. I've got exciting news regarding the newly released (and exceedingly popular) Harry Potter game Hogwarts Legacy.

Since the game came out players all over the world have been experiencing the wizarding world for themselves- embarking on their own adventures and paving the way for their own destiny. The game’s amazing, but if I had just one criticism of Hogwarts Legacy, or rather, one thing I’d like to see ADDED- it’s multiplayer functionality. 

Many single player games throughout history have been extremely successful, so it’s not as though this will make or break the game, HOWEVER- fortunately for us, it looks like less than a week after the game’s release a MULTIPLAYER mod has already begun development.

Hogwarts Legacy MULTIPLAYER Is on the Way!

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we’'ll be addressing all of the rumours surrounding prospective Harry Potter TV Shows and future Harry Potter films.

I’ve been seeing a lot of commotion online and in my own comment section lately discussing the future of the Harry Potter franchise and what may be next. Most likely, these conversations have been re-ignited by the success of the newly released Harry Potter game Hogwarts Legacy.

Fans are now wanting additional Harry Potter content more than ever, which puts franchise owner Warner Bros in a good position. Harry Potter is arguably in the best state that we’ve seen since the original films came out- with previous Harry Potter game and film releases (Fantastic Beasts) succumbing to the incorrigible scrutiny of devote Harry Potter fans across the globe.

Finally things seem good. Nature is healing.

And with this recent success, I’ve been bombarded with article after article online boasting about the next big film and/or tv show that’s going to fit in to the franchise.

It was just announced a few days ago on HBO’s official Twitter page that Warner Bros will be focusing on a new HBO Max Harry Potter TV Series. From the sounds of things, we’ll be getting a new Harry Potter cast, but that’s not confirmed, and that’s always the possibility for a familiar face to pop up in the right context, which is why I wanted to explore what 50 main Harry Potter actors have been up to since the films ended.

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we’ll be discussing the life of the infamous Professor Severus Snape- from childhood to death- in under 10 minutes.

With a life like Severus Snape’s, that created such public—not to mention INFAMOUS—speculation throughout the wizarding world, it’s easy to understand why so many of the videos and resources out there describing his life are so, so VERY long. But, I know that not all of you have the time to sit back, crack open a six pack of Fanta and listen in for hours at a time. This, of course, doesn’t mean that you don’t WANT to know about Severus. You just have other places to be and things to do. I get it.

The Origins of Severus SNAPE (Childhood to Death) in 10 Minutes - Harry Potter Explained

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we’re going to be discussing the recently announced HBO Harry Potter TV Series! For those who live under a rock, the announcement of a new Harry Potter HBO series made headlines all around the world this week. 

"We are delighted to give audiences the opportunity to discover Hogwarts in a whole new way," said HBO CEO Casey Bloys in a statement. "Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World."

"Each season will be authentic to the original books and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and beloved films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally."

And while I’m excited about the new show there does seem to be one question that keeps re-entering my mind: Who’s going to be in it?

Part of this will depend entirely on what direction the show takes. If the show does in fact deep dive in to each of the books, as has been reported, then there are certainly going to be a lot of big shoes to fill.

However, if they decide to give us a new perspective of the wizarding world and introduce a multitude of new main characters that are SPRINKLED IN amongst known characters, then I’d imagine casting would come a lot easier.

From the sounds of things it’s probably going to be more in line with the former, and that’s why today I’m going to be recasting Harry Potter for 2023.

Assuming that the series will start with the first book, the Philosopher’s Stone, let’s start there and recast some of the main characters from the first installment in the series.

Recasting Harry Potter for HBO Max - Philosopher's Stone

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Now, lately I’ve talked a lot about Sacrificial Protection - an ancient, potent and enduring counter-charm that’s invoked when an individual willingly and selflessly sacrifices themselves out of a profound and unadulterated love to protect the lives of their loved ones.

And the reason that it’s been brought up is that Sacrificial Protection is in fact a form of Ancient Magic- which has come to the forefront of many Harry Potter fan’s minds through the new Harry Potter game Hogwarts Legacy.

The idea of sacrificial protection is introduced in the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, when Harry's mother, Lily Potter, sacrifices herself to save her son from Voldemort's killing curse. Her love and selflessness creates a powerful magical protection that ultimately results in the end of Voldemort’s first reign of terror.

But In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the concept of sacrificial protection is introduced once again and actually ends up playing a fairly major role in the ultimate defeat of Lord Voldemort.

But this is all stuff you knew, what I want to uncover today is a lesser-known tidbit about this magic that may in fact have been the most powerful display of magic in the entire Harry Potter series. In fact, this piece of information was nearly entirely glossed over in the films.

Harry’s Most POWERFUL Magic NOT Shown in the Movies

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we’re going to be discussing some events and characters from the Harry Potter books that were subsequently omitted from the films. The fact that some of these events / characters were never shown on-screen has certainly always been a sore subject for Harry Potter book fans, but today I’ve got some good news.

Just recently a new Harry Potter TV Show was announced for HBO- and I suspect that this could be what we have all been waiting for- a chance to finally view some of these unexplored moments, places and characters on-screen. The show is allegedly set to span a decade, and provided that the actors have to AGE to play their older selves, I’d be willing to bet that this ‘decade’ long promise is going to be somewhat accurate. 

With that said, a decade long TV series exploring the books presents an awful lot of opportunity to uncover and unravel aspects of the story that may have never been brought to the silver-screen, and I’m here for it.
