"Honorine" is an 1843 novel by French novelist and playwright Honoré de Balzac. The novel is included in his series of novels known as "La Comédie humaine," which parodies and depicts French society during the Restoration and the July Monarchy. The novel tells the story of Count Octave, whose life Honorine escaped with an adventurer who abandoned her pregnant. Octave still loves Honorine and wants to reunite with her, although Honorine, full of remorse and shame, rejects him. The Count plots a venture to bring his wife back.
