Dangerous Business
First Book in Series Introduces Rising Star of Family Crime Syndicate
SEATTLE – The streets of Seattle are busy around the clock with people trying to make a living. When the shops close and the markets lock up, those who follow their own laws open up for business, and one capable young man is about to take charge in RH Peppers’
Two to Tangle (now available through most large online retail bookstores). Like other young men, Sampson Peppers Jr. records his daily experiences in a journal. However, the things he writes about rival scenes from a Francis Ford Coppola movie. Readers follow this street-savvy heir to the business as his petty crimes escalate into full involvement in professional “jobs” organized by his Native-American father and the local mob boss Frankie Mucceli Sr., his father’s childhood friend.
Peppers, details the bond he shares with two friends who are more like brothers: Donnie Green and Pace Jeffries. He spills his pain on the pages when Donnie dies in his arms after security guards catch them robbing trailers loaded with furs. After that incident, Peppers is sent to Chicago by his father until the scene cooled down. However, while he is away, his father is imprisoned for tax evasion, and Frankie calls on young Peppers to fill his place – a role he is more than ready to accept.
On his first day back, Peppers details the blow of seeing Donnie’s little sister, Tina, prostituting on a corner, an ugly reminder that no one has been around to look after his surrogate sister. Soon after, he receives his first high-end assignment from Frankie and collects Pace to help him complete the job. The easy mission turns into a nightmare, and Peppers kills a young boy – an act that haunts him long after the fact.
Pace moves to California with his portion of the money and dabbles unsuccessfully in drug dealing. Eventually, he is captured by FBI agent Michael Jones.
