The Enigma of Karma: The Fermi Paradox

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice. What if we were never being watched — only cultivated?

Thirty minutes after the hatch closed, Fred Rainier is still thirty feet away and still unreachable. Above him: the director who sent him in, a general with no authority this far out, and a Buddhist nun who was the only person the craft ever answered — until it stopped answering. Karma, the artificial intelligence that has run every hour of Fred's life, is told none of it.

What Oscar Tennet knows and has never put in a file: the silence astronomers call a paradox is not silence. Two factions have been here since before the first temple, and they have been arguing over us ever since — one building order into our religions, our hierarchies, our idea of duty; the other pulling it down and calling that freedom.

Forty days pass. A criminal nobody had reason to care about turns out to carry a bloodline that should not matter and does. A general learns what his own government will do to an asset it cannot recover. And when the craft opens again, what comes out is not the question anyone on that rig prepared for.

Karma is a law before it is a machine. Both of them are still counting.
