The Dream of a Ridiculous Man: An Existential Tale of Hope

A man who has lost his faith in life decides that nothing matters. Convinced that existence has no meaning, he prepares to end his life—but a chance encounter and a strange, unforgettable dream lead him somewhere he never expected to go.

In the dream, he discovers a world untouched by the corruption, cruelty, and conflict he has come to believe are unavoidable parts of human nature. But paradise does not remain perfect. As innocence gives way to suffering, desire, and division, his vision becomes a profound meditation on humanity, morality, love, truth, and the possibility of change.

Fyodor Dostoevsky's The Dream of a Ridiculous Man is one of his most concentrated philosophical works, blending psychological fiction, existential thought, spiritual questioning, and surreal dream imagery into a short story that continues to provoke discussion more than a century after its publication.

This edition presents Dostoevsky's story in modern, natural English, designed to make the ideas and emotional progression accessible to today's listener while preserving the central story and philosophical character of the original.

Alongside the story, this audiobook includes an original companion offering additional context and reflection on the work, giving listeners an opportunity to explore its deeper ideas after experiencing the narrative itself.

Narrated by Luke Meinier Dalofin, this Modern English Edition is designed as both an accessible introduction to one of Dostoevsky's most intriguing short works and a focused listening experience for returning readers.
