#1 I loved the pre-Christmas dinner my family had every year. It was the date of our annual family pre-Christmas dinner, which was just like the main one, except without the stress. I knew that my husband loved it, but he still complained about the gaggle of little monsters around.

#2 The fostering team was always stressed out during Christmas, for the same reasons as everyone else: family conflicts, and the fact that foster carers are temporarily scarce.

#3 I was asked to take in a child named Darby, who was six years old and had been brought to me by the police. Her parents were both involved in her care, and there was no care plan in place yet.

#4 The little girl, Darby Sykes, had come to them via a known pedophile. She had been watching videos of child pornography, and her banner above the pictures read Our Little Princess.
