In September 2007, 20-year-old American college student Amanda Knox moved to Perugia, Italy to study abroad and experience life on her own. She settled into a stone villa with three other young women and quickly began building friendships with her new roommates, forming a particularly close bond with 21-year-old British exchange student Meredith Kercher.

On the evening of December 30, 2019, 42-year-old Chad Entzel headed out to his weekly bowling league in Bismarck, North Dakota. Friends said he was in good spirits, laughing and joking like always, before heading home for what should have been an ordinary night. But over the next several days, Chad stopped answering calls, didn’t show up for work, and seemed to vanish inside his own home - until a 911 call on January 2 reported a fire at the property. 

When firefighters arrived, they found more than just smoke and flames. Inside the primary bedroom was Chad’s body, a propane heater, and a shotgun. At first glance, it looked like a suicide and accidental fire. But as investigators began examining the scene, a very different story emerged involving missing surveillance footage, a sudden insurance policy, and a secret relationship Chad knew nothing about.

Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead with apparent stab wounds in their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on December 14, 2025, and their son, Nick Reiner, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the killings.

An attack at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island left two students dead and nine others wounded when a gunman opened fire inside an engineering building, and authorities have released images of a suspect and offered a reward for information as the search continues.

S3 Ep363: Anna Kepner’s Final Hours | Timeline Of A Crime at Sea

In 1974, Wichita, Kansas was shaken by a series of brutal attacks inside family homes. Men, women, and children were bound, tortured, and killed by a predator who called himself BTK. For 17 years, he terrorized the community, claiming at least 10 victims and taunting police with disturbing letters that detailed his crimes. Then in 1991, the killings abruptly stopped, leaving law enforcement and the public to wonder if the killer had vanished forever. 

For more than a decade, there was silence. Then in 2004, BTK resurfaced with new messages, reigniting fear in Wichita. But that renewed need for attention would ultimately be his downfall, and by the following year, detectives had identified the killer as Dennis Rader, a father of two, a Scout leader, and a trusted member of his church council. Rader was the last person anyone suspected of being a sexual sadist serial killer, but once investigators began putting all the puzzle pieces together, it became clear that Rader’s family-man persona was just a mask covering the monster beneath.

On June 4th 2019, the body of 19 year old Cynthia Hoffman was found in a creek in Thunderbird Falls park located in Anchorage Alaska. Her feet had been duct taped together, and she had been shot in the back of the head. Cynthia had been reported missing by her father, Timothy Hoffman the day before, and he had told the Anchorage Police Department that his daughter had gone out with her best friend on June 2nd and not returned. He also told him that Cynthia had a learning disability and her brain only functioned at the level of a 12 year old. When you think of the kind of person who would do this to a young and trusting girl like Cynthia, you think of someone evil, a stranger most likely, since no one who knew Cynthia could have ever done this to her, but this wasn’t a stranger who had done this, it was a person that Cynthia considered to be her best friend.
