The stories:

Kicchomu-san is the great wit-hero of Oita, in northern Kyushu — quick, cheerful, and dangerously literal-minded. His tales belong to the 頓智話 (wit-tale) tradition, the same family as Hikoichi, and each one turns on a single small idea: a precise word, a rule taken too far, a question answered with painful exactness.

Kicchomu's Ferryboat — A samurai bullies the ferryman over the fare. Kicchomu, filling in for the day, has a very particular reading of the price list.

Kicchomu's Mouse Carving — Challenged to out-carve a master craftsman, Kicchomu produces a lump nobody would call a mouse — then proposes a judge nobody saw coming.
