January's Betrayal

The killer has a badge. And he’s watching the investigation.

When a deputy guns down an accused rapist standing over a dead woman, the case looks closed before the sun comes up. Detective Larry Macklin is ordered to stand back. His father, the sheriff, is already fighting for his political life.

But the bodies keep coming. A young suspect drowned. A deputy found shot through the head in his own living room. Someone is erasing loose ends, fast and professionally, and they know exactly what the investigators know.

An informant inside a paranoid drug family is whispering about a “big payoff.” The annual parade is days away. And Larry is about to make a call on his own that could save his father’s life or destroy everything he’s built.

Trust no one. Not even the man in the next patrol car.

January’s Betrayal is the third installment in the bingeable Larry Macklin Mysteries series, a small-town police procedural full of sharp dialogue and dry humor.
