In the Blink of an Eye: How Briefly Going Blind Opened My Eyes

Raised in a God-fearing Virginia family and tight-knit community, Barbara was all set to attend college when her mama got a call. Would Barbara want to come to Michigan and babysit for a few weeks before school started?

That answer changed the trajectory of Barbara's life forever. She moved to Michigan, married a wonderful man, and seized an unexpected offer from a stranger to enter the banking industry. Having climbed a few rungs on the corporate ladder, she was afforded the opportunity to relocate to a picturesque beachside town in Southwest Florida.

There, her upward trajectory continued as her stellar service earned awards and accolades. She became a critical part of her adopted community, happily serving on the boards of various nonprofits.

But then, in the blink of an eye, everything changed.
