The first edition of this book was published in 2006 and corredtly called the sharp falls seen in property and stock markets between 2007 and 2009. It also correctly identified the underlying fault lines being excessive amounts of debt secured on ovevalued assets. Since then the Governments of the world have embarked on massive financial programs designed to debase their own currecnies in the hope of increasing the price, but not the value, of asstes. This has not been entirely without effect but, like King Canute before them, Governments will not thwart the financial tides.
