Dark Sunny Day: A Day You Would Not Want To Experience

The idea for the story came to me after reading an interview with a mother who had lost her young son in a similar way to Elín. The little boy had asked his mother many times to let him go to a nearby shop to buy a little something. Living as they did in Paris, she was reluctant to let him do this, but one day she relented. Tragically, she never saw her son again. In the interview, the mother said that following her loss she had been unable to carry on with her life, she had to abandon everything she’d had before. The original Icelandic version of my story was published in Iceland in 2020. As the work was not taken up by Icelandic publishers, I self-published. Publishing a book is at the same time both rewarding and demanding, but above all, it makes me proud to have done it. Proud to have been faithful to the characters who wanted to be with me in the story, and to myself.
