Confession (The Sherlock Holmes Advent Calendar: The Arrival of the Saviour, Episode 6)

The confessional of the Abbey of the Redeemer is ablaze: the Franciscans, Watson and Lestrade fight the fire in a bucket brigade until only charred timbers and a soot-blackened crucifix remain. For Holmes the blaze is no coincidence but a message from the culprit – yet Abbot Brother Francis refuses to be deterred: the confession will go ahead all the same, face to face. At the crack of dawn Holmes wakes his companions with Handel's "Hallelujah" and takes up an observation post at the exit of the dining hall over a meagre breakfast. One by one the monks go to confession – until the ancient librarian, Brother Nicholas, stops at their table. And what has Holmes discovered in the Bible of the murdered Brother Emanuel? When the abbot finally returns, he brings news... This radio play was produced with the help of Eleven Labs and using properly licensed voice clones, and was checked by human proofreaders.
