The Tragedy of Pudd’nhead Wilson Mark G. Twain
John Blake seems to have committed the perfect crime. He has killed Thomas Evers, just as he told Blackie that he would. Blake also has a perfect alibi and seems to be making a fool out of Blackie! John Blake, a student of crime has come urgently to see Blackie. He wants to know why a murderer is always caught? Blackie replies “that’s easy because they always make a mistake.” John Blake would like to differ and informs Blackie that he is going to murder a man named Thomas Evers, he won’t tell him where or when but defies Blackie to prove it.
