Beyond Volcanoes

In an apartment block on the edge of a working-class settlement in Rhineland, an 8-year-old has been suffering for years from his parents' intensifying marital crisis, reacting with withdrawal and a variety of behavioral anomalies. During an escalation of the crisis with short-term separation, a fun-loving aunt begins to take increased care of the little one.
