Anne lodges in the cosy tower room of an old house, Windy Willows, belonging to Aunt Kate and Aunt Chatty. She soon makes friends with the women and their housekeeper, Rebecca Dew. The 'royal family' of Summerside, the Pringles, make it very clear that she is not their first choice for the principal's job.
