AI for Performance Reviews: Honest, Specific, and Legally Sound

Performance reviews are broken: too vague, too biased, too time-consuming. AI can help you write feedback that is honest, specific, and defensible — but only if you know where the machine ends and your professional duty begins. This book is not about automation; it is about augmentation. You will learn how to brief an AI assistant to produce draft comments that reflect actual behaviours, how to calibrate language across a team so that standards are consistent, and how to audit output for bias before it reaches an employee. Every chapter builds on a non-negotiable foundation: confidentiality, privilege, and legal compliance. You will never be asked to paste sensitive data into a public tool. Instead, you get repeatable workflows, verification checklists, and plain-language guidance on data protection, equalities law, and documentation. Whether you are an HR professional, a manager, or a team lead, this book gives you the durable skill of using AI as your drafting partner while keeping judgement, accountability, and humanity firmly in your hands.
