AI for Finance Teams: Forecasts, Variance Notes, and Board Packs

Forecasting, variance analysis, and board reporting are the spine of a finance team's value. Yet too often they are buried in spreadsheets, repeated keystrokes, and last-minute scrambles. This book shows exactly how to delegate the drudgery to an AI assistant without delegating your judgment. You will learn to brief a model for accurate forecasts, build rolling projections that update in minutes, and automate variance notes that flag what matters. The board pack — that high-stakes document where numbers must tell a story — gets a chapter of its own: how to let AI draft the narrative while you own the plot. Every technique is presented with the practitioner's core rule: the qualified human remains accountable. The book covers data preparation, prompt design for financial language, verification of outputs, and the traps specific to finance — from hallucinated numbers to stale training data. Nothing is assumed about the tool you use; the skills taught are durable. Written for CFOs, finance directors, analysts, and controllers who want to work faster without cutting corners.
