The Wild Swans by Hans Christian Andersen
Once upon a time, in a faraway kingdom lived a King with eleven sons and a beautiful daughter named Eliza. All was peaceful until the widowed King decided to remarry a wicked Queen with dark magical powers. Out of spite, the stepmother turns her eleven stepsons into swans and banishes Eliza from the castle into the countryside. Despite the overwhelming odds, Eliza is determined to rescue her brothers, overcome the evil Queen’s spell, and reunite her family.
The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams
The Velveteen Rabbit (or How Toys Become Real) is a British children’s book by Margery Williams. It chronicles the story of a stuffed rabbit’s desire to become real through the love of his owner, a small boy—a heartwarming fairy tale enjoyed by children for generations. Based on a 2007 online poll, the National Education Association voted the book #28 on the “Teachers’ Top 100 Books for Children".
