Series Description
Recent years have seen a renewal of contemplative practice in Western Christianity, yet this renewal has not necessarily permeated the ethos and practice of regular worshiping communities. Many parishes or congregations have a meditation group as one of their activities, but few local churches allow for a liturgy shaped and undergirded by contemplative silence in their main gathering for worship, and fewer still are committed to contemplative practice suffusing the whole of their life together and their service in the world.
Benedictus Contemplative Church is an ecumenical Christian community with a practice of contemplation at its heart. Founded in 2012, Benedictus has been exploring the gift and call of contemplative church for our time. This series offers reflections and resources grounded in the Benedictus experience that we hope may contribute to the continued emergence of contemplative forms of church.
