Don Coryell and the San Diego Chargers lit up the NFL in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The Air Coryell passing tree is something everyone has heard about in our coaching journey. 
 
Taking a step into the past, I’m going to investigate the 1983 San Diego Chargers playbook featuring the Air Coryell passing game. Spoiler alert: passing has come a long way.
