The Neighborhood Walking Tour

Books, Skates, & Stars

Our stories today have us deep into holiday excitement in the Village. We’ll stop by the bookstore in Snow and Streetlights and pursue the shelves, sip some hot cocoa, and smile at the merriment in downtown. Then we’ll unwrap the buildings of the little Christmas village, plugging in their bulbs and arranging them on the tree skirt in Under the Tree. Finally, we’ll head out to the Inn, where they are getting ready for a week of guests. Streetlights, Christmas Trees, & The Inn

Mistletoe, Ivy, & Pine

Near & Far Winter Stories

New Year Adventures

Quiet Winter Kindness

We are doing something a little different with today’s episode, and I hope you dig it. I am going to take you on a little walking tour of a favorite location in the Village on Nothing Much. What? How will that work? Yeah, I don’t know either. We’re going to figure it out together because, yes, the Village of Nothing Much is an imaginary place, a world I built story by story through my bedtime story podcast Nothing Much Happens, but why should that stop us? Or listen wherever you are, just following along with me as I talk our way through the Great House and Village Museum, where the map room sits on the top floor, and the labyrinth awaits in the gardens.

Village Museum Walking Tour

Our stories today start out on in the snow, as toboggans whiz past and saucers slip over the slopes. We’ll make snow angels and tromp around in our boots in The Sledding Hill. Romanticized Life

Our stories today highlight some of the loveliest simple pleasures of the spring. A walk, a road trip, a day in the garden. We’ll start with one of my all-time favorite stories and one that inspired me to write a whole book (coming soon!). It’s called Old Houses and if you’ve ever walked through a neighborhood and wondered about the stories of the houses you see, the people who have lived there, it is for you. Then we’ll load up the car and head out to The Hideaway for some time at the Cabin. Finally, we’ll gather our trowels and seed packets and pace out the garden in Spring at the Allotment.
