Manchester Must Dance: Mike Pickering joins the Rockonteurs

This week on the Rockonteurs podcast, we welcome the acclaimed music video director Tim Pope to the show. 

Tim has spent a lifetime directing music videos for some of the greatest artists of all time such as Hall and Oates, Iggy Pop, Paul Weller, David Bowie and of course, The Cure. In fact Tim has shot over 37 music videos for The Cure over the years and continues to work with the band. He has a book out later in the summer called ‘I Shoot Rock Stars: The Wild Adventures of a Music Video Director.

Music Video director Tim Pope joins the Rockonteurs podcast

She talks to Gary and Guy about her own career in music and also the new book from Blondie drummer Clem Burke that Kathy helped finish after his passing last year. Dave Hill from Slade joins Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt

This week performance poet John Cooper Clarke joins Gary and Guy to talk about his career, from his discovery of the powers of poetry at school to his status today as something of a national treasure. Always a fan of music, and galvanised by the Beatles and The Stones, he tried his hand playing bass in a band, but soon found he wanted to work with words, and began writing and performing his own poetry. In this episode he discusses Dylan, Ronnie Wood as a style icon and how being covered by the Arctic Monkeys has brought his work to the attention of billions.

Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood joins the Rockonteurs

This week on the Rockonteurs podcast, we are BACK and joined by founding member of Duran Duran, Nick Rhodes. 

In a fascinating and utterly original conversation he talks to Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt about his early influences, starting the band in Birmingham and he tells a great story about hanging out with Andy Warhol in New York in the 80s.

Nick also talks about Duran Duran’s live show in Hyde Park this summer and the new music from the band that continues with the latest single ‘Free to Love’ featuring Nile Rodgers out on the 23rd April.
