Syria: How Assad fell, the view from Damascus and US response

New York prosecutors have filed a murder charge against Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the killing of UnitedHealth executive Brian Thompson, after a manhunt that ended in Pennsylvania. Families have been desperately searching the filthy cells of Syria's forbidding Sednaya prison for any sign of long-detained relatives. Around 180 people have been killed by gangs in Haiti over suspicions they were involved in witchcraft, according to an NGO.

Donald Trump has warned foreign governments they would have to pay "a lot of money" to lift sweeping tariffs, delivering more pain for global financial markets.
