Why did the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial on the banks of the Mississippi in St Louis become The Gateway Arch National Park? Is it because the Louisiana Purchase was really a horrid event? The Left wants to progress constantly. Socialism wants change for its own sake. What would America have to look like for progressives to want to preserve? If America acceded to all of the Left's demands, would they then become conservatives? Community Organizer & Activist are not job titles that Lewis and Clark would have understood. Politicians!
