LISTEN | Morning Prayer - March 8, 2023 | Wednesday in the Second Week of Lent

"The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many." - Mt. 20:28

God so loved us that He sent His Son Jesus to serve His brothers and sisters, and to save us from our sins through His salvific offering on the cross. This was the Father's will and this was Jesus' food. He emptied himself and took on the form of man, taking the humblest nature of a servant obediently accepting the kind of death that awaited him.

As followers of Christ, to serve God in our brothers and sisters is an imperative. Christian charity demands it. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to purify our self-centered ways and desires and instead, grow in seeking to serve others more than we seek to be served, as our way of loving God.
