Martha is often remembered as the busy hostess gently corrected by Jesus for being “anxious and worried about many things” (Lk 10:41), while her sister Mary chose “the better part” by sitting at the Lord’s feet (Lk 10:42). Their brother, Lazarus, is the one whom Jesus raised from the dead—a powerful moment recounted in the Gospel of John and proclaimed on the Fifth Sunday of Lent in Year A.
