LISTEN | Morning Prayer - October 1, 2022 | Memorial of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, Virgin and Doctor of the Church
"Thus says the Lord: Unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven." - Mt. 18:3
Today is the Memorial of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face (1873-1897), more popularly known as "the Little Flower." Although just an obscure cloistered Carmelite nun, she has had universal appeal since her death in 1897. Her Little Way of Spiritual Childhood brought to focus God's condescending mercy to the little ones. St. Thérèse is the patroness of all foreign missions and patroness of France, and declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope St. John Paul II in 1997. Her parents, Louis and Zélie Martin, were canonized by Pope Francis on 18 October 2015. Their feast day is 12 July.
