LISTEN | Morning Prayer - November 11, 2024 | Memorial of St. Martin of Tours, Bishop
Saint Martin of Tours was born in in Savaria, Pannonia in either the year 316 or 336 AD. That region is what is today the nation of Hungary.
Martin, the son of a military tribune, grew interested in Christianity despite his parents' Roman pagan beliefs. At ten, he began preparing for Baptism, which took ten years. He sought to live as a hermit at twelve, but his parents refused. At fifteen, he enlisted in the military but remained virtuous, treating others kindly, aiding the poor, and serving those meant to serve him while continuing his path to Baptism.
