E215: The Source of Consciousness

Every moment of existence is an extraordinary miracle, but you filter that miracle through the likes, dislikes, fears, and expectations developed through your past experiences. By resisting what you don’t like and clinging to what you do, you build a personal self that judges the present and struggles to make the outside world conform to your preferences. The spiritual path is to stop resisting reality, release what you have stored inside, and allow every experience to pass through you until consciousness is free to experience life with peace, openness, and equanimity.

E214: Letting Go of Yourself and Seeing the Miracle of Life

God is not to be seen as merely a personal wish-fulfilling entity but the universal consciousness and creative force that exists as everything in creation, including ourselves. We lose our connection when our consciousness identifies with our ego, clings to past experiences, and tries to make life conform to our personal preferences. Spiritual growth comes through accepting reality, letting go of attachment and resistance, and rediscovering our true identity as the divine consciousness that is one with all creation.

The Bhagavad Gita teaches that you should engage fully in life while renouncing any attachment to the results of your actions. Expectations, personal motives, and the desire to control outcomes create stress, fear, jealousy, and dissatisfaction, whereas acting simply for the joy of serving and expressing your highest self brings freedom and peace. When every moment becomes complete in itself, life is no longer about getting what you want, but about experiencing the fullness of living.

E212: Living Every Moment as Its Own Reward

Few people understand the source of will power. Will is the inner power created by the focusing of consciousness, and the way we use it determines whether we become trapped in ego or awakened spiritually. By using our will to resist experiences, we create samskaras that block our natural flow of energy and keep us identified with our personal self. The highest expression of will is to consciously relax, allow life to pass through without resistance, and ultimately surrender personal will to the divine will.

The essence of spiritual growth is not fixing the mind or emotions, but recognizing the consciousness that is aware of them. Suffering arises because awareness becomes absorbed in thoughts, emotions, and psychological patterns stored from the past. As you release these inner blockages, your natural state of peace, joy, love, and freedom begins to shine through without depending on external circumstances.

Most human beings mistakenly identify with the mind and live inside its endless stream of thoughts rather than directly experiencing reality. Suffering arises when consciousness becomes distracted by experiences, identifies with them, and forms the personal mind filled with preferences, fears, and attachments. Spiritual growth comes not from stopping thoughts but from developing witness consciousness and learning to allow life’s experiences to pass through without resistance or clinging. The practical spiritual path is to continually practice “I can handle it,” while relaxing and releasing our reactions until we rediscover ourselves as awareness itself, rather than the collection of experiences we have accumulated.

E207: The Birth of the Personal Mind

Surrender is not about giving things up, practicing self-denial, or always accepting life’s circumstances. True surrender begins by recognizing that you are not the doer—the universe is continuously unfolding everywhere by itself: babies are being created, flowers are blooming, planets are orbiting, trillions of galaxies are spinning through space, and atoms are binding into molecules without human control. Yet we create in our minds the notion that we are the creator and controller of life. As we inwardly relax and allow reality to pass through us, we are left in such a state of peace, joy, and freedom that we naturally end up serving life instead of ourselves.

E206: What Surrender Really Means

Embracing deep truth involves being willing to look at human existence in relation to the universe—we are all on a small planet in the middle of nowhere for a brief moment in time. To avoid facing this truth, we make up personal beliefs and create a self-concept (ego) that leads to tremendous suffering and conflict. The key to living truthfully is to let go of the ego, embrace the vast reality of life, and focus on serving life instead of serving yourself.
