E216: Expanding Your Frame of Reference

You are not the limited thoughts, emotions, or sensory experiences you are aware of; you are the consciousness that is aware of them. Spiritual growth involves ceasing to focus that consciousness on the personal self, and welcoming life’s experiences as opportunities for growth. Through letting go at deeper and deeper levels, consciousness can turn away from distraction, become one-pointed, and ultimately follow awareness back to its source, where the limited sense of self gives way to the experience of divine oneness.

E215: The Source of Consciousness

Every moment of existence is an extraordinary miracle, but you filter that miracle through the likes, dislikes, fears, and expectations developed through your past experiences. By resisting what you don’t like and clinging to what you do, you build a personal self that judges the present and struggles to make the outside world conform to your preferences. The spiritual path is to stop resisting reality, release what you have stored inside, and allow every experience to pass through you until consciousness is free to experience life with peace, openness, and equanimity.

God is not to be seen as merely a personal wish-fulfilling entity but the universal consciousness and creative force that exists as everything in creation, including ourselves. Consciousness is the experiencer of all things, and spiritual growth means realizing you are that consciousness, not what you are conscious of. Liberation comes through inwardly relaxing, letting go, and remaining in witness consciousness, allowing stored disturbances to dissolve and restoring us to the natural state of freedom and oneness.
