Welcome to Episode 272 of Let’s Get Haunted! Florida’s largest and oldest psychiatric hospital has been called many things: an asylum, a prison, a hospital, and, according to some, one of the most haunted places in the state. LET’S GO WAY DOWN YONDER TO Chattahoochee, Florida(????) to investigate the disturbing history of Florida State Hospital!! What began as a military arsenal became an institution that would house thousands of psychiatric patients, incarcerated people, and some of Florida’s most vulnerable residents. We dig into allegations of abuse and neglect, overcrowded wards, controversial treatments, deaths on the property, and the landmark lawsuit that exposed conditions inside the hospital. Then, obviously, we get haunted. From reports of shadow figures and disembodied voices to the stories surrounding the hospital’s old buildings and cemetery, we’re asking the question we always ask: if a place holds enough suffering, does some of it stay behind? Buckle up, bc we are talking hooch!

Episode 269: The Great Molasses Flood of 1919

Welcome to Episode 268 of Let’s Get Haunted! This week on LGH we're climbing one of the bloodiest battlefields in Nat’s backyard AND American history. In June of 1864, Union General William Tecumseh Sherman made a rare and devastating decision: a direct assault on the Confederate defenses atop Kennesaw Mountain. In just a matter of hours, thousands of soldiers were killed on the steep Georgia hillside, leaving behind trenches filled with corpses, makeshift hospitals overflowing with amputations, and scars on the landscape that remain visible even today.

More than 160 years later, visitors still report hearing phantom cannon fire echoing through the trees, seeing Civil War soldiers disappear into the forest, and experiencing an overwhelming sense of dread along the infamous Dead Angle.

We get kinda deep (sry) and ask: are these stories born from the trauma of one of the Civil War's deadliest battles, or can places remember the violence inflicted upon them???

Episode 268: The Civil War Ghosts of Kennesaw Mountain

Welcome to Episode 267: The Giant Space Clams of Nevada. On today’s episode of Let’s Get Haunted, we bypass the brothels and casinos of the Silver State and travel back in time to one of the weirdest cryptid encounters ever. In 1925, four pilots landed on a remote mesa near Battle Mountain, Nevada, where they claimed to witness one of the strangest UFO encounters ever recorded - not with a spacecraft, but with what appeared to be a living, breathing creature drifting through the sky. After watching the injured, disc-shaped being struggle to take flight, they allegedly saw a much larger version descend from above, rescue it, and disappear back into the clouds. This week, we investigate the original eyewitness account, the mysterious history of Battle Mountain, and the bizarre theory that some UFOs may actually be undiscovered atmospheric animals rather than extraterrestrial craft. Is this one of the greatest forgotten cryptid stories in American history, or the ultimate tall tale?

Episode 267: Giant Flying Space Clams of Nevada

Across Ireland, Scotland, Appalachia, Newfoundland, and beyond, people have reported the same impossible experience for centuries: a fiddle playing deep in the woods, laughter echoing from an empty hillside, a dance hall where no building should stand. Those who followed often found themselves welcomed into a celebration that seemed perfectly ordinary...until they tried to leave. Welcome to Episode 265: Japan’s Mysterious Rock Ship, “Masuda Iwafune”. On today’s episode of Let’s Get Haunted, we journey to Japan’s ancient Asuka region to investigate the Masuda Iwafune: an enormous 700- to 800-ton granite monument whose purpose has baffled archaeologists for centuries. We explore the leading theories surrounding the so-called “Rock Ship of Masuda,” from unfinished royal tombs and astronomical observatories to water engineering projects and ritual monuments. Then, we venture into stranger territory, examining connections to Japanese legends of heavenly stone boats, the mysterious Utsuro-bune encounter, and ancient astronaut speculation. We even interviewed a tourist, Eddie, who hiked to the megalith and saw it firsthand! More than 1,300 years after it was carved into a hillside overlooking Nara Prefecture, the Masuda Iwafune remains one of Japan’s greatest unsolved archaeological mysteries.
