Shivsena Crisis:How Is Election Symbol Allotted To Political Party?|

Elections have not been announced in Maharashtra yet, but a big political development sent a shock waves in political circle. The Election Commission on Friday handed over the name and symbol of the Shiv Sena to the Shinde faction. It was a jolt to Uddhav Thackeray whose father founded the party. He called this decision of ECI as Murder of Democracy. The Thackeray faction has also accused Modi government and BJP of misusing central agencies like ED, CBI and IT. It has said the Election Commission is playing the role of puppet of the government. After the decision by ECI, the Uddhav Thackeray faction rank and file seems rattled, whereas Shinde grou p which has now been declared official shivsena, has been taking over the control of properties, Shakhas and offices in the name of the party. Today, they also took over Shivsena party office in State Assembly. On the other hand, the matter is pending in the supreme court. While Shinde group has filed caveat after ECI decision, Thackeray clan has moved against ECI order of allotting party symbol and name to Shinde.
