Ben Haines, Ellen White and Jen Beattie remember the former Liverpool manager Matt Beard who has died at the age of 47. Natasha Dowie who played under Beard with Liverpool, Charlton Athletic and Boston Breakers tells us about ‘Beardy’ and her experiences with him which started at the age of 17 when she joined Charlton Athletic. 

Tash followed Matt to Boston Breakers and Liverpool where she finished her career and talks to us about how she always wanted to make him proud. Senior Women’s football reporter Emma Sanders joins the podcast who got to know Matt while at university and their friendship off the pitch over the years, including pints at the pub! 

Former German international Julia Simic who played under Beard at West Ham tells us she went there because of Matt Beard and how he has heavily impacted her as a coach now.

The Commentators' View: Ali’s car crisis & Conor’s Everton error

Mark Chapman has reaction as Barcelona beat Newcastle 2-1 and Manchester City had a 2-0 victory over Napoli in the Champions League. Former Newcastle midfielder Isaac Hayden, former Premier League striker Dion Dublin, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague and John Murray talk Marcus Rashford shining for Barcelona with two brilliant goals.

Rashford shines for Barcelona & Haaland breaks more records

Liverpool leave it late once again, this time against Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid. Arne Slot’s side had surrendered a 2-0 lead before captain Virgil van Dijk headed in a 92nd minute winner. Hear from the Liverpool boss.

Chelsea, meanwhile, struggled against a Harry Kane-inspired Bayern Munich. Two goals from the England captain, along with a Trevoh Chalobah own goal helped Vincent Kompany’s side to a 3-1 win, with Michael Olise shining for the hosts.
